The Holy Monastery of St John of the Mountain is a monastic community for men under the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. The monastery is located in Forrestfield, Western Australia, and was established in the first years of the 21st century under the omophorion of His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos of Australia. The current abbot is Hieromonk Evagrios; there is currently one hieromonk, one hierodeacon and one monk in residence.
The monastery currently hosts a monthly matins and Divine Liturgy in English.
The abbot, Hieromonk Evagrios, was a monk for approximately 14 years on Mt Athos in the Monastery of Simonopetra. He was ordained to the priesthood on the 7th of January, 2005 by Bishop Nikandros, the bishop responsible for Western Australia in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese. On the same day, the then-novice of the monastery, also from Mt Athos, was tonsured a reader. Later, on the 21st of January, Archbishop Stylianos of Australia ordained Fr Thalassios, also from Simonopetra, to the diaconate.
