Diocese of the West (OCA)

The Diocese of the West is a diocese of the Orthodox Church in America. Its territory includes parishes and missions located in nine states in the United States – California, Oregon, Hawaii, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, and Colorado. (Idaho is within its territory but currently has no parishes.) The diocesan seat is San Francisco.

The diocese is currently under the leadership of His Grace, the Right Reverend Benjamin (Peterson). He was consecrated as a bishop on May 1, 2004, and installed as the ruling bishop of the diocese of the West on October 2, 2007. He is assisted by the Right Reverend Daniel (Brum) of Santa Rosa who serves as auxiliary bishop, who was consecrated bishop on January 24, 2015.

The six deaneries of the diocese and their territories are:

  • Missionary District – Arizona, Central California, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington,
  • San Francisco Russian District Deanery – Central California
  • Pacific Central Deanery – Northern California
  • Pacific Northwest Deanery - Washington and Oregon
  • Pacific Southwest Deanery - Southern California, Arizona, Nevada
  • Rocky Mountain Deanery - Colorado
