His Eminence Theophylactos (Papathanasopoulos) was the Metropolitan of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Australia and New Zealand from 1947 to 1958.

Before his consecration, Archimandrite Theophylactos served as a parish priest in Melbourne. He was elected to the rank of Metropolitan on April 22, 1947.

His reign was tragically cut short, however, by a car crash on August 2, 1958. To date, he is the only Greek Orthodox bishop to be buried in Australasia. Originally buried in Botany cemetary, he now rests in the Orthodox section of Rookwood cemetary in an area for clergy, just behind the sanctuary of Saint Athanasius Chapel.
