Metropolis of Paramythia, Philiata, Geromerion, and Parga
The Metropolis of Paramythia, Philiata, Geromerion, and Parga, is one of the metropolises of the New Lands in Greece that is under the jurisdiction of the Church of Constantinople but de facto is administered for practical reasons as part of the Church of Greece under an agreement between the churches of Athens and Constantinople. The metropolis is located in Epirus in northwestern Greece.
History
The present Metropolis of Paramythia, Philiata, Geromerion, and Parga was established in 1895 by Patriarch Anthimus VII of Constantinople, having previously been subordinate to the Metropolis of Ioannina as the bishop's seat of Paramythia since the late eighteenth century.
Metropolitan
His Eminence Metropolitan Titus (Papanakos) was born in 1931 in Piraeus. He was elected bishop in 1974 and consecrated Metropolitan of Paramythia, Philiata, Geromerion, and Parga on July 17, 1974.
