His Eminence Dionysios (Mantalos) of Corinth, Sikyon, Zemenou, Tarsus and Polyfengous is the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Corinth, Sikyon, Zemenou, Tarsus and Polyfengous under the jurisdiction of the Church of Greece. The metropolis is located southwest of Athens at the head of the Gulf of Corinth.

Life

Metr. Dionysios was born on April 25, 1952 in Neo Psychiko, a suburb of Athens, Greece. His general education took place in Athens followed by studies at the University of Athens. After his graduation he continued his education in Christian philosophy and education at the Graduate Faculty of the University of Thessalonica.

He was tonsured a monk on June 29, 1970 in the Monastery Chrysopigi in Elia, Divri (Labeia) and given the name Dionysios. He was ordained deacon on January 18, 1974 in Pyrgos by Bishop Athanasius of Elia Cyrus. On March 11, 1979, Dcn. Dionysios was ordained a priest and raised to the dignity of archimandrite by Metr. Chrysostomos of Chalkida.

Father Dionysios served the Metropolis of Chalkida in several position over the following years, as preacher in 1977, vicar-general in 1978, and from 1990 as chancellor of the metropolis. In 2002, he was appointed Deputy General Director of the Apostoliki Diakonia and, in 2006, he was appointed chancellor of the Holy Synod.

In 2006, Fr. Dionysios was elected to the episcopate by the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. He was consecrated on October 15, 2006 as the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Corinth, succeeding Metr. Panteleimon (Karanokolas) who reposed on August 16, 2006.
