The Diocese of Miami and the Southeast is a diocese of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America which is under the jurisdiction of the Church of Antioch. The diocese includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee in the United States of America.
History
The diocese was formed from the seven regions of the Archdiocese at the time in 2003 after the Patriarchate of Antioch granted “Self-Rule” for the Archdiocese in response to the petition in 2001 for “Self-Rule” status by the ruling hierarch Metr. Philip and the General Assembly of the Archdiocese.
Parishes and Monasteries
The diocese includes thirty-six parishes and missions in the states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia and that part of Maryland outside the Washington, DC metropolitan area.[1] While the parishes in the diocese are principally eastern rite, the diocese does have western rite parishes.
