Gabriel of Lesnovo
Venerable Gabriel of Lesnovo (also Gavrilo, Serbian: Свети Гаврило лесновски) was a Slav and companion of Prochorus of Pchinja and St. John of Rila. St. Gabriel's feast is January 15.
He lived a life of asceticism in the tenth century at Kratov on Mt. Lesnov, where he built a church dedicated to the Holy Archangel Michael. Several other monks joined him, and this was beginning of Lesnovo Monastery. He was a miracle-worker during his life and after his death. The beautiful church located at the present day monastery was built by Despot Jovan Oliver, a nobleman under the Emperor Dušan. St. Gabriel died in the Lord toward the end of the tenth century.
