The Diocese of Wichita and Mid-America is a diocese of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America which is under the jurisdiction of the Church of Antioch. The diocese includes the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming in the United States of America.
History
The diocese was formed from the seven regions of the Archdiocese at the time in 2003 after the Patriarchate of Antioch granted “Self-Rule” for the Archdiocese in response to the petition in 2001 for “Self-Rule” status by the ruling hierarch Metr. Philip and the General Assembly of the Archdiocese.
Parishes and Monasteries
The diocese includes fifty parishes and missions in the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.[[1]]. While the parishes in the diocese are principally eastern rite, the diocese does have a number of western rite parishes.
