Amvrosios (Giakalis) of Servia

His Eminence Amvrosios (Giakalis) of Servia is the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Servia and Kozani under the administration of the Church of Greece. The Metropolis of Servia and Kozani is a metropolis in the New Lands of Greece, under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. [1]. He served as the ruling hierarch of the metropolis from 1998 to 2004.

Life

Amvrosios (Giakalis) was born in 1940 in Keramio, on the island of Lesbos, in the Aegean Sea. After he completed his theological education in Greece, Amvrosios continued his postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom, receiving his doctorate degree from University of Cambridge.

He was ordained a deacon in 1967 and a priest in 1974. In 1988, Father Amvrosios was elected to the episcopate and consecrated Metropolitan of Servia and Kozani. Metr. Amvrosios served the Metropolis of Servia until 2004 when he was succeeded by Metr. Paul (Papalexiou).

Metr. Amvrosios has written many theological books.
