His Eminence Dimitrios (Zaharengas) of Irinoupolis has been Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Irinoupolis since 2004. Previously he served as Archbishop of the Cameroon.
Life
Born Themistocles Zaharengas in 1965 in Sohos, Thessalonica, Themistocles studied at the Ecclesiastical Education Academy of Thessalonica and the Theological Faculty of the Aristotelian University of Thessalonica. In 1989, he attended the missionary Monastery of the Archangel Michael-Tharri on the island of Rhodes. He was tonsured a monk with the name Dimitrios.
In 1992, Dimitrios began a period of service as a missionary, serving in Madagascar, India, Hong Kong, and the Philippine Islands. In 1999, he was ordained a deacon and then a priest by His Eminence Nikitas (Lulias) of Hong Kong. Aftr becoming a member of the clergy, Fr.
