The '''solea''' is the portion of the [[bema]] (raised floor or platform) that extends beyond the [[altar|sanctuary]] from the [[iconostasis]] into the [[nave]]. Often minor liturgical ministers who have no specific role in the sanctuary will remain here during the liturgy.
