Joseph (Harkiolakis) of Proikonnisos

Auxillary bishop

He was consecrated on the December 3, 1989, and served the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia as the auxiliary bishop (of Arianzos). His longest term was in Adelaide, guiding the Third Archdiocesan District of South Australia and the Northern Territory. After this, he was moved to Melbourne as the second auxiliary bishop, responsible for the Second Archdiocesan District of Victoria and Tasmania.

Metropolitan of New Zealand

He was elected as Metropolitan of New Zealand, and served between 2003-2005. In 2005, he resigned for health reasons [1] and held his final liturgy on August 28, 2005. [2]

Metropolitanate

After his retirement from New Zealand, Metr. Joseph returned to Greece and lived in Piraeus as a retired hierarch. In 2008, he was elected to be the Metropolitan of Proikonnisos.
