Timothy I of Alexandria

Timothy I of Alexandria, also Timotheus I and Timotheos I the Destitute, was the Pope of Alexandria of the Church of Alexandria from the year 380 to 385. The Church of Alexandria (Coptic) commemorates him on the 26th of Epip of the Coptic calendar.

Pope Timothy participated in the Second Ecumenical Council, in 381, that brought to an end the Arian controversies. He had been an ardent foe of the teachings of Arius and his supporters. He also distinguished himself for his philanthropic activities.
