Kallinikos (Pippas) of Pelusium

His Eminence, the Most Reverend Kallinikos (Pippas) of Pilousion is Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Pilousion, part of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.

Life

His Eminence Kallinikos was born in 1936 in Megara, Attica. He studied at and graduated from the Holy Theological School of Halki.

He was ordained deacon and priest during 1964 by His Eminence Chrysostomos (Papaignatiou), the late Archbishop of Grevena. Hie first assignment was as pastor for 15 years in a border town of the Archbishopic of Grevena, followed by serving in the Archdiocese of Peristeri from 1978. He then served for three years as Patriarchal Vicar in the Cairo Committee, in addition to serving as Superior of the Church of Ss Constantine and Helen in Cairo.

Fr. Kallinikos was elected Bishop of Mareotis on November 23, 1999 by the Holy Synod of the Alexandria Patriarchate and consecrated by His Beatitude Petros VII on December 12, 1999. At the same time he was appointed Patriarchal Vicar in Alexandria. In February 2001, he was elected Archbishop of Khartoum and All Sudan and remained in this see until he was elected Metropolitan of Pilousion on November 1, 2006. He was enthroned on December 22, 2006.
