Theofilos (Manolis) of Lefkas

His Eminence Theofilos (Manolis) of Lefkas and Ithaca is the Metropolitan of the Metropolis of Lefkas and Ithaca under the jurisdiction of the Church of Greece. The metropolis is located among the Ionian islands in the Ionian Sea off the west coast of Greece. He has served as metropolitan of the metropolis since 2008.

Life

Constantine Manolis was born in 1963 in the city of Lefkada (Lefkas) on the Ionian island of Lefkada. After Constantine completed his secondary education he studied at and graduated from the Higher Ecclesiastical School in Athens and the Theological School of the University of Athens. Constantine entered the Holy Orders in 1991 when he was ordained a deacon, with the name Theofilos, by Metropolitan Sergius of Grevena. Metr. Sergius then ordained Dcn. Theofilos a priest the following year, 1992.

Following his ordination as priest Father Theofilos served at the Church of Ss. Constantine and Helen. During this time he served in various areas of spiritual, social, charitable, and pastoral work of the Archdiocese of Athens. In 1993, Fr. Theofilos was appointed registrar of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. On June 24, 2008, Fr. Theofilos was elected to the episcopate by the Synod of Bishops of the Church of Greece. He was consecrated Metropolitan of Lefkas and Ithaca three days later on June 27, succeeding Metr. Nikiforos (Dedousis) who had reposed on January 28, 2008.
