Maxim was elected to the [[see]] of the Diocese of Western America at the regular session of the [[Holy Synod|Holy Assembly of Bishops]] of the Serbian Orthodox Church, held in May, 2006. Bp. Maxim succeeded Bp. Longin, who previously was the Administrator of the [[diocese]].
