Anthony (Moskalenko) of Uralsk
His Eminence Archbishop Anthony (Moskalenko) of Uralsk and Guryevskiy is the ruling bishop of the Eparchy of Uralsk and Guryevskiy, which is one of the constituent dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church's Metropolia of Kazakhstan.
Life
Archbishop Anthony was born Vladimir Ivanovich Moskalenko in Khabarovsk, USSR, on September 29, 1940. From 1965 to 1969 he studied law at Irkutsk University, at the end of his studies being ordained to the priesthood. In 1970, Fr. Vladimir was tonsured a monk with the name Anthony. In 1981, Fr. Anthony was transferred from Siberia to the Ukrainian SSR, where he served in parishes in the Khmelnitsky and Kiev regions.
On October 13, 1985, Fr. Anthony was consecrated Bishop of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitskiy and made auxiliary of the Eparchy of Kiev. In late 1986, Bishop Anthony was elected Bishop of Chernivtsi and Bukovina, in early 1991 being transferred to the newly erected Eparchy of Uralsk. In 1997 Bishop Anthony was elevated to the rank of archbishop.
