Welcome to OrthodoxWiki!

Hello, Adelfi, and welcome to OrthodoxWiki!

Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Please note that OrthodoxWiki is always in development, so not everything works quite right yet. You can help, though!

OrthodoxWiki is a community-edited encyclopedia of Orthodox Christianity. Articles are created and edited by our members, and so everything that we do here is subject to review and revision. The result is a true consensus product, with every interested editor contributing his own knowledge and writing skills. As such, when you feel that criticism of an article is warranted, we encourage you to join in and fix it! Don't worry about breaking anything or doing something wrong—the other editors here are happy to jump in and help you learn.

Bishop page additions

If you're wondering why your revisions to the bishop article were deleted, it's because that info doesn't go there. That page is a general definition/introduction to the office of a bishop, not a discussion of invidual bishops' lives and such. But we'd be happy to have the same information on a separate page named after that particular bishop (I'm sorry, I've already forgotten his name). If you have any trouble, feel free to ask me or anyone else about what to do.

No need to worry about your English. That's why we have lots of people here to edit. And getting used to the wiki markup is confusing, too; I'm still learning. This page is extremely helpful: Help:Editing#The_wiki_markup.

To start a new article, what you need to do is type the term or person you're looking for into the search box to see if we already have that article or something related. If not, click on the "Create new article" link and start typing in the blank space. Then hit submit when finished.

Your Bishop Ignatije article, for example, won't actually be included in the bishops article (none of them are), but it will be listed in the bishops category if done correctly. To enter a category, you type an appropriate version of the following at the end of any article:

[[Category:Whichever category is correct]]

For example, Bishop Ignatije's category tag would look like this:

I've taken the liberty of starting this article for you: Ignatije (Midic) of Pozarevac and Branicevo. This is the basic format for most of our articles. Feel free to edit and add any more useful information. Clicking on the editing button can really help you see what things should look like when you're typing, before you hit the submit button. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions. Gabriela 21:36, November 27, 2006 (PST)
