His Grace, '''Seraphim (Kalogeropoulos) of Rentina''' is an assistant bishop of the Metropolis of Thessaliotidos Fanariofersalon of the [[Church of Greece]] with the title of [[Bishop]] of Rentina, serving since 2009.
==Life==
Bishop Seraphim was born on [[December 2]], 1945 in Karditsa, a city in western Thessaly, Greece. He completed his education through high school in Karditsa. He attended the University of Athens, graduating from both the Theological School and the Law Faculty. Following his university education, he served his military service obligation as an infantry reserve officer.
Completing his military service, he worked as a theology teacher in the high schools in the area around the city of Karditsa and in the German cities of Nuremberg, Munich, and Augusta.
Returning to Greece, he entered a monastic life, and was [[tonsure]]d a [[monk]] at the Monastery of [[Varlaam Monastery (Meteora)|Barlaam, Meteora]], with the name Seraphim. Entering the [[Holy Orders]], Seraphim was [[ordination|ordained]] [[deacon]] and [[priest]] and served as a preacher in the [[Meteora]] area.
For over eight years, Father Seraphim served as secretary of the [[Holy Synod]] of the Church of Greece, especially on the Synodical Committees of Divine Worship - Pastoral Project and for Operational Renaissance. He also was secretary for the groups charged with organizing each year the Theological Symposium of Holy Synod of the Greek Church. He was editor of the volumes of the Proceedings of these Symposia.
