Nicholas was born to devout christian parents, John and ''Kali'' (Good) in the small village of Greece called Ixthis (Now called Psari<ref>Psari, Corinthia, is a settlement near Stymfalia of KorinthCorinth, Greece.</ref>) a little after A.D. 1500. His parents died a little after he turned twelve. He was moved from Korinth Corinth to [[w:Silivri|Silivria]]<ref>A city and a district in Istanbul Province along the Sea of Marmara in Turkey.</ref>.
