Author of St. Mary of Egypt's Hagiography
:Right, St. Andrew wrote the Troparia for St. Mary, but that's not hagiography. Hagiography is, from my understanding, the written life of a saint, which, in this case, was written by St. Sophronius—at least, from every indication I've seen. I am glad to be proven wrong, however. --Coderforchrist 16:27, April 7, 2009 (UTC)

::Hi, you might be right about the Hagiography, I am not qualified to answet that, however, just from my growth in the orthodox church I have come to understand that the words in Liturgical services are accepted as inspired by God. As such, when I here Troparia or Kontakia or poems written about Saints and accepted by the Holy Spirit into the liturgical worship of the church - I see the information as factual. So forgive my explanation above .. to me, if its in the Canon its equal to Hagiography in its describing the life of the Saint! Vasiliki 23:59, April 7, 2009 (UTC)

::: Vasiliki, the question is not so much one of truth, fact, falsehood, etc., but of genre.

::: Coderforchrist, I think you're right.
