Changes

Here's a list of some things I anticipate for OrthodoxWiki in the future. The Roadmap should generally be used for larger, longer range goals rather than as a simple to-do list.

===Before Soon! (before December 2005)===* <strike>The logo contest will end on November 15th. Shortly after that, we'll need to integrate the new logo into the site, and use it as a model to create new link buttons, etc.</strike>

* <strike>We need to revise our copyright policies in order to solve some incompatibility issues (with Wikipedia) and to better anticipate any future works.</strike> * <strike>We need to come up with a strategy to deal with [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Vandalbot vandalbots] and an information page to help people understand what to do when an attack comes. (See [[OrthodoxWiki:Vandalism]].)</strike>

* <strike>A new template - I'd like to see at least one new template for OrthodoxWiki, giving users a better opportunity to choose how they view the wiki.</strike> - Maybe later, not really needed now. * <strike>It is now possible to create access-restricted namespaces. We should consider whether or not to create such a space for sysops.</strike> Not necessary now - only relevant for system management info, and that can be handled one on one at this point. * <strike>Year-end inventory - After a year of being in service, the wiki could surely use some optimization. I am proposing a yearly review process, involving especially the Sysops, in which we go over all categories and pages, thinking about how we could better structure out wiki and considering what needs pruning.</strike> Discussion underway -- see [[OrthodoxWiki:Inventory]]. * <strike>With the launch of our first localized wiki (bg.orthodoxwiki.org - in Bulgarian) expected sometime around January 2006, we will need a set of explicit guidelines and helps for others who want to help launch localized editions of OrthodoxWiki.</strike> In draft stage -- See [[OrthodoxWiki:Localization]]. * <strike>We need to consider whether or not we want to create something like an "OrthodoxWiki Foundation" that can act as a kind of trust to steward the information on the wiki.</strike> - Not now. ==OrthodoxWiki Projects and Sister Sites==Right now, OrthodoxWiki is considering possibilities for expansion. The Wikimedia Foundation has found it useful to initiate a [[OrthodoxWiki:Other wikis|number of different projects]]. We think OrthodoxWiki could benefit from some well-thought out diversification. See links at [[Other wikis]].

* Year-end inventory - After Something like Wikinews would better be done as an RSS aggregator. See [[Orthodox news]] for a small sample.* Wikisource is an interesting proposition. There are probably not enough Orthodox books or original articles that we could get permission for to justify a year separate site at this time. They could be included here as part of being in servicea separate category.* Wikibooks, which focusses on the wiki could surely use some optimizationcollective creation of textbooks is another interesting idea. I am proposing Again, probably not necessary as a yearly review process, involving especially separate entity for us. It would be nice to encourage some of this down the Sysopsroad though.* Wikispecies - right!* Same goes for Wikiquote. It would be great to have collections of famous Orthodox quotes, in which we go over all categories and pagessayings, thinking about aphorisms though. We should figure out how we to better encourage this. Probably this could better structure out wiki be done with a special category or template, and considering what needs pruninglinks to the entry for the author or book, if relevant.
