Year articles
::Hi Dpr, thanks for your note. We are indeed allowed to. Usually we rework the materially pretty substantially, so I don't give attribution in the text itself, I just mark something like "Wikipedia import" at the creation of the page, and that goes into the record of the page's history. Best wishes & yours in Christ, Fr. John

Year articles
Hi there, Dpr—I noticed your comment on FrJohn's Talk page, and I thought I might respond. The vast majority of years will perhaps only have one or two major events (or none at all) which would be of note to Church history. Even a fairly eventful year like 1054 will have most of its relevant events covered in the Great Schism article.

At best, any given year will only have a handful of events which might deserve a mention on OrthodoxWiki, so even the biggest year articles would simply consist of a list of a handful of article links at most. For such an aggregation of events such as would be provided by having year articles, this function is already served by the Timeline of Church History (which can, of course, always be expanded). It is my view that making year articles would clutter up OrthodoxWiki unnecessarily.

In the future, by the way, if you have suggested revisions for the official style manual, you may find it most helpful to address them on talk:Style Manual. — 07:32, 13 Oct 2005 (EDT)
