Grant [this/it], O Lord.

I privileged the use of "Grant this" rather than "Grant it" (but mentioned the "it" translation parenthetically in the intro), as the former is more common in English-speaking parishes in the US, Canada, and UK (not sure about Down Under), used at least by the GOA[1] (the largest jurisdiction in the US) and the AOA[2] (which is either third in size or neck-and-neck for second, depending on the set of numbers one uses), along with the Greek Archdiocese of Canada[3]. It's also used by Slavic jurisdictions, such as the ROCOR[4], the MP in the UK[5], and others.

I'm also of the personal opinion that the use of "it" makes for a rather unpoetic sound in the phrase, but of course what I think isn't the issue! :) —Fr. Andrew talk contribs (THINK!) 06:23, February 7, 2006 (CST)
