The Holy '''Prophet Zephaniah''', or "Sophonias" in Greek, is the ninth of the [[Prophet|Twelve Minor Prophets]]. He was born of the tribe of Levi and was active around 640 B.C.
His name is interpreted in the Greek Synaxarion in various ways, from "watch-tower of the Lord" to other meanings exemplifying the prophet's view in the mysteries of God's will, such as "to hide" or "Yahweh has hidden".
