On [[May 19]], 1973 Dionysios was [[tonsure]]d a [[monk]] at the Monastery of the Life Giving Spring in Upper Xenia, Almyros, Magnesia and was given the name Elijah Daniel.
On [[December 29]], 1974, Mnk. Daniel was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[deacon]] by Bishop [[Christodoulos (Paraskevaides) of Athens|Christodoulos of Demetrias]] and was assigned as deacon to the Church of the Ascension of Christ in Volos. On [[March 11]], 1979, Dcn. Daniel was ordained a [[priest]] by Bishop Christodoulos and also raised elevated to the dignity of [[archimandrite]].
In 1978, Father Daniel was appointed preacher of Holy Demetrias Church. In 1998 he was appointed as the preacher of the Archdiocese of Athens. Subsequently, Fr. Daniel served as [[chancellor]] to chief secretary of the [[Holy Synod]]. In 2000, Fr. Daniel was elected to the [[episcopate]]. He was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] the Metropolitan of Kaisariani, Vyron and Ymittos on [[January 22]], 2000 succeeding the late Metr. Georgios (Prokopis) who had reposed on [[November 21]], 1999.
