The Diocese of Sierra Leone was established by Patriarchal and Synodal decree in on [[October 7]], 2010 when the Church of Alexandria elevated the [[Diocese of Ghana]] to an [[archdiocese]] with a new name, the [[Archdiocese of Accra]], and established the '''Diocese of Sierra Leone''' under its omophorion. Despite being founded, the diocese remained without any elected bishop.
During the [[November 21]], 2012 Fall meeting of the [[Holy Synod]] of the Church of Alexandria the Diocese of Sierra Leone was elevated to and renamed the Archdiocese of Guinea and the African Coast, receiving its first hierarch, the current Abp George.
