[[File:Example.jpg]]The concept of the monastery was blessed by Archbishop [[Dmitri (Royster) of Dallas|Dmitri of Dallas]] and the South on [[November 15]], 2000. Organizational difficulties delayed the activation of the monastery until 2009 when Bp [[Jonah (Paffhausen) of Washington|Jonah]], [[auxiliary bishop]] to Abp. Dmitiri, blessed the re-activation of the monastery project in 2009. Later in the year the monastery acquired twelve and a half acres of property with a house in Kemp, Texas.

[[File:Example.jpg]]In order to serve better the Orthodox Communities in Texas and beyond, the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ Monastery has entered into an effort to convert the existing barn on the property into the St. Seraphim of Sarov Retreat Center that will allow for the accommodation of more visitors and guests, more retreats and seminars, and a better work shop facility for candle making and other products made here by the nuns.
