==Life and activity==
Father Ion Bria was born on June 19, 1929, in the vilage Telega, Prahova county. A efectuat studii secundare la Liceele din Vălenii de Munte şi Ploieşti.
He study at the Theological Institute in Bucharest (1950-1954) and made doctoral studies (1954-1957; thesis in 1968). He continued with post-doctoral studies at Canterbury Anglican College (1962-1963) and to the Faculty of Theology in Durham (1966).
In 1965 he was ordained [[deacon ]] and priest in 1969.
He was, successively, professor at the Theological Seminaries in Buzau (1957-1961) and Bucharest (1962-1965), professor assistant to the Theological Institute in Bucharest (1965-1966), editor of Publishing House of the Romanian Orthodox Church (1966-1968), assistant and lecturer (1968-1970), then associate professor for Homiletic and Catechetic studies (September 1971 - April 1973), then full professor at the Department of Mission and Ecumenism of the Theological Institute in Bucharest, from January 1, 1978.
===Ecumenical activity===
A fost colaborator la numeroase reviste teologice din ţară și din străinătate (Geneva, Atena, Salonic, Paris, Boston, New York); începând cu anul 1976 este profesor invitat la diferite Facultăţi de Teologie şi centre ecumenice din Europa. Primește titlul de "Doctor honoris causa" al Facultatii de Teologie din Presov în anul 1990.
