==Life==
Born Rizkallah Abouhatab, Emmanuel (Abo-Hatab) in 1890. He served as archdeacon to St. [[Raphael of Brooklyn]] during the first decades of the twentieth century and was subsequently [[ordination|ordained]] a [[priest]].  On [[September 11]], 1927, Fr. Emmanuel was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] Bishop of Montreal by [[Archbishop]] [[Aftimios Ofiesh|Aftimios (Ofiesh)]] and Bishops [[Theophilus (Pashkovsky) of San Francisco|Theophilus (Pashkovsky)]] and [[Arseny (Chagovtsov) of Winnipeg|Arseny (Chagovtsov)]] as [[vicar]] to Abp. Aftimios to administer the Syrian parishes in Canada under the [[American Orthodox Catholic Church]].
In 1931, Emmanuel broke with Aftimios and rejoined the Russian Metropolia, taking Aftimios's previous episcopal see of Brooklyn at the appointment of [[Metropolitan]] [[Platon (Rozhdestvensky) of New York]].
