'''The Church of India''' is compromised of six historically important episcopal Churches of Syriac tradition based in the southernmost state of Kerala and numerous evangelical Churches founded in the 19th and 20th centuries. The major episcopal Churches of Syriac tradition in India are the Roman-Syrian Catholic, the Syrian Orthodox Jacobite, the MarThoma Syrian, the Assyrian, Independant Syrian Church and the Indian Orthodox or Malankara Orthodox Syrian.
