Episcopi Vagantes Lineage?

The website for the "Society of St. Vincent of Lerins" has a photograph on its page of Pierre Martin Ngô Đình Thục, a Roman Catholic Archbishop of Huế, Vietnam, who was at one point excommunicated ca.1975/76 by Pope Paul VI because he performed consecrations without the Pope's approval (according to the Wikiedia article); although Wikipedia claims that soon after he was reconciled with the Pope, nevertheless Abp. Thuc later moved towards Sedevacantism and in 1981 proceeded again to consecrate several more bishops without a mandate from the Holy See. This would seemingly make Pierre Martin Ngô Đình Thục an Episcopus vagantes.

It is not clear where J.L. Ashcraft's clerical orders come from, or if they come from one of these Episcopi vagantes lines. Furthermore, Sedevacantism itself has quite confusing origins to say the least, with some of their Bps.' orders coming from schisms, or improper lineages.

Their relations or ties to Old Catholicism also seem confusing, ambiguous and hard to follow, and they are to be distinguised from both the Old Catholic Church (organized in 1889 with the union of Old Catholic Churches at Utrecht), and also from the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) (founded in 1970 as an international Traditionalist Catholic priestly society).

As for the "Society of St. Vincent of Lerins," there is no information on their website as to their origin, and how they came to be "Traditionalist Sarum Rite Byzantine Catholics".

So, this article should probably be qualified with some disambiguation tag, or category (schismatics), or deleted. Our article on "Independent Orthodox churches" would seem to apply here perhaps? Just sharing some concerns..apologies for any errors in assumption..maybe some one can clear up the ambiguities better....

BTW, Fr Ashcraft has this to say about himself (from the website):

"Father Ashcraft is a member of the Order of Saint Basil, and a Byzantine Catholic Traditionalist. He has appeared on a wide variety of programming, including "Straight Talk", "The 700 Club", "Shadows and Lost Souls", "Haunted Voices Radio", "Talk Back with Bob Larson", and more. He is a former missionary and has travelled the country speaking on cults, the occult, exorcism and youth subcultures. He is an independent author and former host of "Spirit Wars", a two hour radio program. Father will be hosting a talk program with Peter Haviland exploring science and faith in the realm of the paranormal. The program is known as "PSIGNS", and will broadcast on the Supernatural Radio Network. He is also a frequent speaker at paranormal and apologetic conventions."

He honestly doesn't seem to have anything whatsoever to do with the Orthodox Church, so I'm deleting the article. —Fr. Andrew talk contribs (THINK!) 13:21, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
