St. '''John the Cantor''' of Qinnesrin, also known as Mor Yuhanon Psaltes, is a 6th century father and saint of the [[Church of Antioch (Syriac)|Syriac Orthodox Church]]. St. John the Cantor is commemorated in the Syriac Orthodox Church on [[January 13]].
==Life==
St. John was the third [[abbot ]] of the Monastery of the Eagle's Nest ('Qinnesrin') of that name and . He is also known as 'the Calligrapher.' The Saint John was educated at the Qinnesrin Monastery and also [[ordination|ordained ]] a [[priest ]] there prior to becoming its abbot. During his life he was renowned for both his poetry and his piety. St. John fell asleep in the Lord around 600.
