One nice thing about the Wikimedia Commons images is that they are pre-selected according to similar criteria.
One priority here in my mind are images of a historical interest, from the various historical archives. * [[wikipedia:Wikipedia:Public_domain_image_resources]]- this is a wonderful list of resources.

* http://www.thebiblerevival.com/clipart.htm - Good to keep in mind for Bible-related images, maps, etc.
