His Grace '''Timothy''' (secular name '''Michael Negrepontis'''; 1924 - 1998) was a [[bishop]] of the [[Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America]], who served as Bishop of Detroit until his retirement in 1995.
==Life==
Bishop Timothy (Negrepontis) was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] on [[January 20]], 1974 at the Holy Cross [[Chapel]] of the [[Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (Brookline, Massachusetts)|Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology]] in Brookline, Massachusetts as Bishop of Pamphilos and [[auxiliary bishop]] to Archbishop [[Iakovos (Coucouzis) of America|Iakovos of America]]. He was assigned to lead the Diocese of South America that had its headquarters in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In 1978, Bp. Timothy was appointed to succeed Bp. [[Iakovos (Garmatis) of Chicago|Iakovos (Garmatis)]] as Bishop of the Seventh District of Detroit in the United States of America. In 15 March 1979 after the re-designation of districts as [[diocese]], he was enthroned as Bishop of the [[Metropolis of Detroit|Diocese of Detroit]]. In  1 August 1995, Bp. Bishop Timothy was retired and return to Greece.
On [[December 11]], 1998, Bp. Timothy died in an Athens hospital following complications from asthma. He was buried on [[December 15]], 1998 in Kaisieriani Cemetery after a funeral service at the Kimisis Tis Theootokou Church in Kaiseriani, Athens.
