In studying how the Church of Finland site showing "parishes", it appears to me that the "parish" is a block of territory, such as the US state of Louisiana uses "parish" instead of "county". With such big areas assigned as "parishes" in Finland, such as Lappi, does anyone know if there is only one "community" per Parish or are there more than one? Parish in Greek is essentially diocese in common English usage. It seems, though, that Finland may be using parish in a somewhat novel fashion. —Fr. Andrew talk contribs (THINK!) 21:22, June 3, 2009 (UTC)
