This is now fully supported in Internet Explorer 7 (not just when you bookmark a page, but also in the tabs and address bar).
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon Favicons] must be valid ico files, or images which can later be converted into ico files, and have a size of 16x16 [http://www.wikicities.com/wiki/Logo_contest#Rules].
