==Life==
Metropolitan Alexios (Vrionis)  was born in 1944 in Piraeus, Greece. After studying theology in Athens, Alexios was [[ordination|ordained]] [[deacon]] in 1967. In 1972, he was ordained a [[priest]] and served as registrar and secretary to S. E. Beneficence. Subsequently, Father Alexios was appointed [[Chancellor]] of the [[Archdiocese]] of Athens. 

In 1995, Fr. Alexios was elected to the [[episcopate]] and was [[consecration of a bishop|consecrated]] metropolitan of the Metropolis of Nikaia on [[January 29]], 1995. Subsequently, Bishop Christianoupoleos (Petridis) was assigned as his assistant.
