Archdiocese of Burundi

The Holy Archdiocese of Burundi and Rwanda and Inner Africa is a diocese under the jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa. Its territory includes the parishes and missions located in the countries of Burundi and Rwanda and a large area of the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Diocese of Burundi and Rwanda was established by a Patriarchal and Synodal decree on October 6, 2009 with its see located in the capital city Bujumbura. Prior to its foundation, both countries weren't part of any Alexandrian jurisdiction. On November 26, 2018 the bishopric was promoted to an archdiocese.
