The "Jurisdiction" Problem in Hawaii
=== The "Jurisdiction" Problem in Hawaii ===
Up until the 1960s, the Orthodox Church of Russia held traditional canonical jurisdiction over the Islands of Hawaii. Following the 1960s, parishes from three seperate Orthodox jurisdictions established themselves in the Islands; Greek, Serbian, and OCA. At one point there were as many as five different Orthodox jurisdictions in the Hawaiian Islands. This is one anomaly that will hopefully be rectified soon. All Orthodox churches in Hawaii are in communion with one another.
