This page is an official policy on OrthodoxWiki. It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all users should follow. If you are part of the administration, please feel free to update this page as needed, but make sure that changes you make to this policy really do reflect OrthodoxWiki's perspective before you make them.

Everyone, Orthodox and non-Orthodox alike, is welcomed at OrthodoxWiki. We have some basic guidelines to keep everything running smoothly around here, and in order to make our approach to user matters more explicit.

User names

Please be sensitive to the community when choosing a user name. Names which may be offensive, particularly if they have no associated email address or edit history, may simply be changed. If this happens to you, and you're here for a constructive purpose, just create a new account.

User Pages

User pages offer an opportunity for self-expression. OrthodoxWiki allows a great deal of freedom in terms of what may be posted on user pages.

Of course, we will censor any kind of pornography, blasphemy, or deception, and anything that will get us in legal trouble.

Additional Notes

Anybody claiming to belong to an "Orthodox" church that is "independent" or not recognized by any of the other Orthodox churches who advertises their affiliation in any way will be marked with the Independent template. We don't mean this as a personal attack or affront. It's merely a way for us to ensure that people (our users and target audience) know that these things matter to us, and that unsuspecting visitors do not get confused.

Likewise anything that offends against the community here will be censored. The final arbiter in controversial cases is User:FrJohn.

No Duplicate Accounts

Except in exceptional circumstances with permission from FrJohn, users are only allowed one account. If you've opened more than one, it's not a big deal. Just let us know which one you'd like to continue using and we'll block the other one. Let us know if you think you should qualify for an exemption to this rule.
