He was one of the [[Apostles|twelve Great Apostles]] (not to be confused with the [[Apostle_Thaddeus|Thaddeus]] of the Seventy Apostles) and after the Acension he preached the Gospel in Judea, Samaria, Galilee, Idumea, Syria, Arabia, Mespotamia and Armenia. While preaching in the area around Ararat he was captured by pagans, crucified and killed by being shot with arrows. The Church remembers St. Jude on June 19 and has canonized his epistle in the Holy Scriptures.
