The Most Reverend '''Nikiforos (Kykkotis) of Kykkos''', is the [[Metropolitan]] of the Bishopric of Kykkos and Tylliria of the [[Church of Cyprus]]. Metr. Nikiforos is the first [[bishop]] of the newly established bishopric.

==Life==
Metr. Nikiforos was born on [[May 2]], 1947 in the village of Kritou Marottou of the district of Paphos in Cyprus. Having completed his education in the local elementary school, Nikiforos entered the Monastery of Kykkos for six years as a [[novice]] during which he attended the Hellenic School in the [[monastery]] for three years. After graduating from the monastery school he attended the Lyceum of Kykkos in Nicosia on a scholarship from the monastery. He graduated from the Lyceum in 1969.

Also, in 1969, he joined the brotherhood of the Kykkos Monastery, receiving the name Nikiforos. On [[April 6]], 1969, he was [[ordination|ordained]] a [[deacon]] by Archbishop [[Makarios III (Mouskos) of Cyprus|Makarios III]]. 

In 1970, Dn. Nikiforos entered the Law Faculty of the Aristotle University of [[Thessalonica]]. After graduating from university in 1974, Dn. Nikiforos entered the Theological School of the University of Athens, from which he graduated in 1978. On [[September 8]], 1979, Dn. Nikiforos was ordained to the [[priest]]hood by Abp. [[Chrysostomos I of Cyprus|Chrysostomos I]] and was elevated to the rank of [[archimandrite]].

After his elevation in 1979, Archim. Nikiforos served in a number of church positions over the ensuing years. He was a teacher at the Seminary of the [[Apostle Barnabas]] for six years. He served as President of the [[ecclesiastical court|Ecclesiastical Court]] of the Church of Cyprus for five years, and as Secretary of the [[Holy Synod]] of the Church of Cyprus. 

During this time Archim. Nikiforos also as a member of the Abbot's Council of Kykkos Monastery. On [[February 18]],1983, the brotherhood of the monastery elected him to the position of [[abbot]] of Kykkos Monastery. In January 1984, abbot-elect Nikiforos was enthroned at the monastery by Abp. Chrysostomos I.

After his election on [[February 18]], 2002 as Bishop of Kykkos by the Holy Synod, Abbot Nikiforos was [[enthronement|enthroned]] on [[February 24]], 2002. On [[May 9]], 2007, Bp. Nikiforos was elected the metropolitan of the newly established Bishopric of Kykkos and Tylliria. His enthronement was on [[May 13]], 2007.
