Welcome to OrthodoxWiki!

Hello, Lazar, and welcome to OrthodoxWiki!

Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Please note that OrthodoxWiki is always in development, so not everything works quite right yet. You can help, though!

OrthodoxWiki is a community-edited encyclopedia of Orthodox Christianity. Articles are created and edited by our members, and so everything that we do here is subject to review and revision. The result is a true consensus product, with every interested editor contributing his own knowledge and writing skills. As such, when you feel that criticism of an article is warranted, we encourage you to join in and fix it! Don't worry about breaking anything or doing something wrong—the other editors here are happy to jump in and help you learn.

Michael (Mansbridge-Wood)

If we're going to provide negative information about someone (especially someone still alive), then there need to be sources cited. Additionally, the tone must be "just the facts" without evaluative descriptors such as "undistinguished." Historical figures will almost necessarily face more evaluation in history's remembrance of them, but we should strive to be especially charitable to our contemporaries.

If you have source documentation regarding Fr. Michael's military record (and feel that it is vital to his article on OrthodoxWiki), then by all means include it. We all have "undistinguished" times in our lives, but they are not necessarily what should be included in encyclopedic articles.

As this article stands now, I can imagine a reader stumbling across it and asking, "What does all this have to do with the Orthodox Church?" If he is a hieromonk, that should be mentioned. His monastery should be mentioned. And so forth.

Please be sure to read the links in the welcome message left in your Talk page (especially the Style Manual. Thanks for your contributions! —Fr. Andrew talk contribs (THINK!) 05:11, 29 October 2005 (CDT)

Hi, I was asing what this had to do with the Orthodox church since I ran across the article without first reading the monastery article. There was no mention of Orthodoxy at all, nor or his monastic life. Because the bio was so short, I've simply added it to the monastery page (Monastery_of_St_Petroc_(Cascades,_Tasmania)). We can always separate it again if there's more material to beef it up. I agree with User:ASDamick's concern about the word "undistinguish" -- perhaps this is to contrast his previous life with his ecclesiastical life? In any case, better, I think, to fix it up.

All that said, just a note too to say thank you for your contributions. One of the joys of OrthodoxWiki is how much I've learned about the different pockets of Orthodox believers all over the world! Fr. John 14:32, 29 October 2005 (CDT); article link edited by Pistevo on 13 May 2006.
