Bishop Brian J. Kennedy, O.S.B. is the Presiding Bishop for the Celtic Orthodox Church, based out of Holy Trinity Celtic Orthodox Church in Toledo, Ohio.

Bishop Kennedy is a very conservative and traditional western rite, Monastic Bishop with the Celtic Orthodox Benedictine Community of Priests and Brothers. Bishop Kennedy has Apostolic Succession from the Greek Orthodox Church, Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Russian Orthodox Church. [http://www.celticorthodoxchurch.com/succ.html

To see how the Celtic Orthodox Church compares with other faith communities see [http://www.celticorthodoxchurch.com/differences.html

Bishop Michael on behalf of the Ecumenical Patriarch wrote a letter recognizing the Grace filled and Spirit Filled nature of the line of Apostolic Succession from which Bishop Kennedy derives his Consecration. Bishop Ireny of the Orthodox Church in America wrote to add his name to the name of Bishops who recognize the Grace filled and Spirit filled character of the Apostolic Succession from which Bishop Kennedy has derived his Consecration. Bishop Kennedy derives his Consecration from recognized Canonical Orthodox Bishops. You may view these letters on the Succession page listed above.

Bishop Kennedy has spent his life trying to foster vocations to the Monastic life of strict observance. Bishop Kennedy believes the world should conform to the Church, not the Church conform to the world. Bishop Kennedy is very much opposed to the heresy of Ecumenism, inter faith worship and syncretism.

Bishop Kennedy supports a married Episcopacy while himself remaining a celibate monk.
