Metropolitan Timotheos (Margaritis) of Bostra, also Timothy (Margaritis) of Vostra, is the bishop of the see of Bostra in Palestine under the jurisdiction of the Church of Jerusalem.

Life

In 1951, Theodore Margaritis was born in the city of Patra in the northern Peloponese of Greece. In 1967, he moved to Jerusalem where he attended and graduated from the Patriarchal School. In 1970, Theodore was tonsured a monk with the name Timotheos. Following his tonsure he was ordained a deacon. In 1975, he was ordained to the priesthood. In 1978. Fr. Timotheos was raised to the dignity of archimandrite.

Archim. Timotheos continued his theological education at the Theological Academy of Petroupolis, graduating in 1980 with a degree of Candidate in Theology.

In 1981, Archim. Timotheos was named Chief Secretary of the Patriarchal Offices, a position he retained until 2001. In 1985, he was elected a member of the Holy Synod.

In 1988, Archim. Timotheos was elected and installed as Bishop of Porphyroupolis. Then, in 1991, he was appointed Archbishop of Lyda. In 1998, Abp. Timotheos elevated to Metropolitan of Bostra.

During the period from 1986 to 2001, Metr. Timotheos participated, as the representative of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, in many conferences including the Conference of Churches of the Middle East. In October 2005, Metr. Timotheos was appointed by the Holy Synod to lead the reorganization of the Exarchate of Cyprus.
