So I am not sure if it is correct to say it is published by the Nebraska Eparchy.  Could you find out please, because if it is, then it does have wider ramifications.    Thanks.  chrisg  2006-05-30-2258

Titles

Does the Church of Alexandria use 'Rt Rev.' for their archimandrites (like the Church of Antioch) or does it use 'V. Rev.' (like the Church of Constantinople)? --— by Pιsτévο talk complaints at 19:59, April 28, 2006 (CDT)

There used to be a convention that an Archimandrite in charge of a number of monasteries was Right Reverend, and an Archimandrite in charge of no monastery was Very Reverend. The gap in between was iffy. But as so often happens, it depends on the whim of the elevating bishop.

When Fr Themi is in Australia, the Antiochian Church always refers to him as Right Reverend. A few years ago Fr Themi told me he couldn't care less about titles as long as people were moderately respectful, and not venomous, when talking to him or about him.

He said he was more interested in doing God's work than in being feted and praised when he might not deserve it.

On the Saint Clement of Alexandria website, he gives his title and address as:-

Fr Dr Themistocles Adamopoulo

PO Box 46119 Nairobi Kenya

It's probably best to follow convention, particularly in mind of this page, where it seems that the Church of Alexandria seems to run with that convention as well. Pre-ordination, I think he'd refer to himself as 'Br Themi', so his lack of concern with titles is a long-standing one. :) --— by Pιsτévο talk complaints at 00:23, April 29, 2006 (CDT)

Yeah. You're right. Calling himself Br Themi was one of the very many things about him his senior hierarch took exception to.

The page from Alexandria seems conclusive for the use of Very Reverend. I'll change our archdiocesan webpages also. I don't think its on the Kenyan website. I'll have to go back and check on that too.
