First Canadian Bishop

"...Bishop SERAPHIM also has the distinction of being the first Canadian to be consecrated to the episcopacy within the Orthodox Church..."

This was a previous version of this page, and it is mistaken. Bishop Seraphim WAS the first OCA bishop born in Canada, but not in World Orthodoxy (I don't think John (Stinka) of Winnipeg (UOCC) (who was born in Buchanan, Saskatchewan) was the first Canadian born bishop either, but he was ordained a bishop in 1983; four years before Bp. Seraphim). Hoping this clears up some confusion...--AKCGY 23:54, August 14, 2006 (CDT)
