His Grace, Archbishop Hilarion is the ruling bishop of the Diocese of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand. ROCOR's official websites are very careful to continue the correct designation of the Diocese as a Diocese and not an Archdiocese, with a ruling Bishop and not an Archbishop. Archbishop Hilarion holds the personal dignity of Archbishop because of his status and effectiveness within the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia. But he is the ruling Bishop of the Diocese, since it is not an Archdiocese.
It is a small point I know, but ROCOR is very careful to be quite correct about this. All official ROCOR websites refer.
