New Church in Victoria first of its kind for Australia
==New Church in Victoria first of its kind for Australia==
[[Pistveo]] - The Archdiocese has announced that the foundations, for a new Church dedicated to St Lazarus, have been laid as part of a Grant/sponsorship by the Cemetery of Frankston/Dandenong. They have given an area of this cemetery to the GO Church including a grant of $100,000 to create a 'first of its kind' in Australia - where an Orthodox Church will be inside a Cemetery and the area around it will be for the burial of Orthodox Christians. Since the Australian pages are your baby, I prefer letting you know so that you can do your research and then update all the relevant Australian pages according to what you think is best ... have fun. --[[User:Ixthis888|Vasiliki]] 17:02, February 24, 2008 (PST)

:In Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney, there is a Greek Orthodox Church, and surrounding it are areas set apart for the burial of Orthodox Christians. In the area set aside for clergy and hierarchy, Bishop Gibran of the Antiochian Orthodox Church is interred as well as Greek Orthodox hierarchs. So it's not quite clear how the Frankston initiative is a "first of its kind" for Australia. chrisg 25 Feb 2007 12:15 (AEDT)
